The Cat's Out of the Bag

What does that mean anyway?

Whoever made that phrase up is probably giggling in their grave that we still use it and have no idea that it was just a joke in the first place.

Anyway, I have an announcement!

This is only for those of you who don't already know.

Which is probably none of you.

Because my love already announced it in his testimony on Sunday.

And for those of you who have seen me barfing every time I think about moving.

Which is probably all of you.

We are excited to announce...

Our 12 week old fetus.

Yup, that's right, I'm PREGNANT!!!

It seems to be an active child already--kicks so hard that all my food wants to come back to where it came from...every time. And it's kicking a bunch of zits out on my face. And its heartbeat was nice and speedy yesterday (could be the candy I ate right before I went to the doctor).

I have a feeling it's going to be a long 18 years and 6 months until he/she is out of the house.

Still, you gotta admit. It's pretty cool to be creating life.

Thanks for all your prayers everyone. Here's a picture of an ultrasound done at 9 weeks--for those of you who know how to read these things. The heart-shaped thing is my uterus (just because I love my baby so much), and the really cute thing with arms and legs is our little kicker.

Yeehaw! Hmmm... when I was pregnant with Adam and Andrew I had major zit issues. I didn't with the girls. Hmmmm... (This time my skin is clear and it's another boy, so maybe it was a fluke.) Can't wait to find out what you're having!

BTW: on NPR last week they talked about the origin of phrases, including that one! That's a 16th century phrase referring to showing what's in your bag at market. Apparently, merchants would try to trick people into buying a cat in a bag when they thought they were buying piglets. :) Go figure.

That's interesting about the cat thing. I never knew that.
So, congratuations! You're having a kidney bean. Seriously, are you sure that's not a picture of your appendix?

CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so excited for you!

I hope your morning sickness goes away soon...mine lasted till week 18 and I threw up so much I lost 10 lbs. Hopefully that isn't happening to you right now.

Hang in there! You are going to be the best mom ever. Love you!

Well I sure didn't know, and I am so excited for you! So sorry about the constant puking. That is no fun AT ALL! But soon enough, you'll be able to keep that food down, and prepare for the little arrival. Congrats!!

Yay!! Congrats! I'm so excited for you! Sorry you've been so sick though. Like Elise, I lost weight too at the beginning cause I just couldn't eat. I was way too nauseous. It'll go away though. So get excited for that time. :) And for when you'll feel the baby kick for real. So much fun! And good job on not having a summer baby. :)

Congratulations Mary!!! I'm excited for you guys! WAHOOO!!!

Oh, and the kicking-your-food-out thing will probably stop, but sadly...the zits probably won't. It's nice after you give birth though because at least one thing starts to go right with your body. As you start losing hair and your belly decides to stick around for awhile, you finally start getting clear skin again. Hooray! :)

SO excited for you!
